How It Works

The Basics
How does it work? First, we collect some information about your hardware configuration directly from your system. This is done by downloading a small, safe application that will read specific information about your system and upload it to our site for evaluation. The data received will be analyzed by our powerful UPGRADEPRO configurator to identify your system and its compatible upgrades.

The Challenge
It is no secret that computers are now a permanent and everyday reality of life. It is also no secret that most computers are owned and operated by people who know almost nothing about them. Because of that, consumers routinely buy incorrect parts, spend hours trying to install software that should take seconds, and go without accessories when they aren’t sure they can make them work. Worst of all, perfectly good computers end up in our nation’s landfills only because their owners didn’t know how to upgrade them. And this insanity is not limited to mom-and-pop businesses or befuddled individuals grappling with their first computer. Every day, corporate America flushes millions down the same bottomless pit. This is especially true for companies that have many different brands of computers or computers configured at different levels.

The Solution
After many years in research and development, goldenram is launching a revolutionary new way for every computer user to inexpensively and accurately upgrade their system. This exciting new service is being introduced to the public through a network of Technology Advisors who are destined to become the “go-to” guys (or gals!) for their customers’ computer-related challenges.

The System
The heart of this groundbreaking new technology is called UpgradeDetect^TM and it defines the term “user-friendly.”

Here’s how the system works:
First, the goldenram Technology Advisor identifies a customer whose computer may need upgrading and offers to perform a free evaluation. UpgradeDetect^TM is then run on the customer’s system via the internet. During that process, over 3000 pieces of information will be analyzed to determine exactly what the customer needs to bring his or her computer(s) up to spec. Even if the customer just wants to add an accessory such as a DVD burner or a new printer, UpgradeDetect^TM will tell them exactly what they need to make it work right the first time.

UpgradeDetect^TM will analyze most Windows, Linux and Mac based systems, plus it works on desktop computers, notebooks, servers, workstations, motherboards, cameras, printers, PDAs, routers, point-of-service systems, cash registers, electronic games, copiers, etc.

Once UpgradeDetect^TM has completed its analysis, the findings are provided to the customer at no charge. This report will include a list of goldenram proprietary part numbers along with their prices. If the customer decides to upgrade, the needed parts can be ordered through the Technology Advisors personalized website that was created when he or she joined the goldenram team. While some customers will have the technical ability to install these parts themselves, others may prefer to have a professional perform the upgrade. In those cases, a trained goldenram technician can be dispatched to install the parts or perform the needed services onsite – anywhere in the United States.

goldenram has even developed a solution for customers whose computers are not online. Called StandAlone, it allows the customer to transfer the upgrade data from their computers onto a floppy disk or writable CD/DVD which is then provided to goldenram for analysis.

Although UpgradeDetect^TM does not read personal files or data, and only retrieves the data necessary to provide the user with a list of suggested upgrades and accessories, some customers may be reluctant to let an outside entity electronically analyze their computers. For them, StandAlone is the perfect answer since it allows the customer to preview the collected data before it is submitted. For an even greater level of security, goldenram developed Super StandAlone which does not send any system-specific information out from the customer’s system. All the data collected is analyzed on the customer’s own computer, and the only information sent to goldenram is the order for parts or accessories.

It is also important to note here that goldenram has earned the three highest awards for quality manufacturing in the industry: the ISO 9001:2000, the QS9000 certificate – a requirement of the automotive industry's tier one suppliers – and the AS9100 certificate required by the aerospace and aircraft industries. That means our products don't void most original equipment product warranties.
